Geographic Information System (GIS)

In 2012, the Town invested in a Graphical Information System(GIS) that is used by the assessor’s office to electronically maintain property records. The Selectman requested that the WPCA participate with a $100,000 contribution to the $500,000 cost of the GIS system.

Summer 2013, a contract was issued to add the information from years of drawings, some paper and some electronic, to the GIS system. With the details of the Brookfield system available electronically, and the data available from the real-time monitoring system, the entire Brookfield sewer system can be viewed on wireless tablets in the field by our field staff. Also the system can be modeled to determine where any pinch points that might require attention in the present or as the system might be expanded in the future.
